Ordering & Customization

5 questions
How long does production take?

Our standard lead time is 20 business days or less. Need your hood sooner? Rush production is available for 10-15 business days*
Once your order is complete, please allow an additional 2–6 business days for shipping.
Orders with a custom color match require 25–30 business days for production.
*Custom color match orders cannot be rushed.

Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?

Once your order has been placed, you will have 2 business days to make any changes to your order without being charged additional fees, on top of the cost of the changes. Changes made after 2 business days, but before your hood has entered production, will incur a $250 fee, plus the cost of the requested changes. Changes made after production has started will incur a $500 fee, plus the cost of the requested changes.

Note: Dimension changes after production starts may require a new build at full price. Please double-check your measurements before you submit.

Sizing & Fit

5 questions
How wide should my hood be?

Your range hood should be at least as wide as your cooktop. It can be wider if you prefer and have the space. Not sure which size to choose? Connect with a Hoodsly expert to find the right width for your space.

Contact →
How high above the cooktop should it hang?

Your range hood must be mounted 30–36 inches above your cooktop. Need help determining the right mounting height for your space? Connect with a Hoodsly expert for guidance.

What if my ceiling is unusually tall or short?

If you have a vaulted ceiling, we recommend ordering your range hood with an extension. For example, if you need a 54" high hood, we recommend ordering a 48" high hood with a 6" extension. The extension can then be cut to match the slope of your ceiling.

Will my existing ventilation insert fit?

Most major-brand inserts fit a Hoodsly hood, some with minor modifications. You can look up your model number in our compatibility chart to see if your vent will fit and whether any modifications are needed.
Don’t see your vent listed? Contact our customer service team with your model number, and we’ll be happy to check compatibility for you

Can you build for an island?

Yes! We offer island hoods in four different styles, with options to complement a variety of kitchen designs. Because every island installation is unique, a licensed contractor is required to ensure your hood is properly and securely installed.

Ventilation & CFM

4 questions
Do Hoodsly hoods include a blower?

Hoodsly offers ventilation from six different brands, with options to fit a variety of kitchen and cooking needs. Not sure which one is right for you? Use our helpful CFM tool for a personalized recommendation, or connect with our customer service team for expert guidance.

How much CFM do I actually need?

The right CFM depends on your appliance type, BTU output, and hood width. Not sure what you need? Our CFM calculator can recommend the right ventilation for your kitchen in about one minute.

Find my CFM →
Can I use a ductless setup?

Yes! We offer recirculating options for most of our ventilation brands. Recirculating ventilation is only recommended for electric cooktops and can be a great option when venting outside isn’t possible. Not sure if recirculating is right for your setup? Connect with a Hoodsly expert for guidance.

Do I need make-up air?

Many local building codes require a make-up air system for ventilation over 400 CFM. Requirements can vary by county, so we recommend checking with your local building inspector before ordering a higher-CFM ventilation unit.

Finishes & Color

4 questions
Can you match my cabinet or island color?

Yes! Hoodsly offers custom paint matching using Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore colors, or we can match a color from a physical paint sample. We also offer select wood species, including white oak, walnut, cherry, alder, and hickory, for even more ways to customize your hood.

What are the hoods made from?

Our wood hoods are made with 3/4" cabinet grade plywood with a white maple veneer, providing a beautiful, durable surface for both paint and stain while remaining dimensionally stable above a hot range with proper ventilation use.
Our metal hoods are fabricated using 14 gauge, 1/16" thick stainless steel for a durable, high quality finish.

Can I order it unfinished or primed?

Yes! Every Hoodsly hood starts raw and unfinished, and you can choose to order yours raw or primed. Our raw option arrives stain ready and can also be painted after proper priming. Choose our primed option if you plan to paint your hood, or order it raw if you plan to stain, paint, or plaster it after installation.

How do I clean and maintain the finish?

Proper care will help keep your Hoodsly hood looking beautiful for years to come. For routine cleaning, use a soft microfiber cloth with water and clear Dawn dish soap, and avoid harsh or abrasive cleaners.
Care may vary by material and finish, so please visit our Care Instructions page for complete cleaning and maintenance guidance.

Shipping & Delivery

5 questions
Is shipping free?

Hoodsly offers both free and premium shipping options throughout the continental United States.
For orders shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, or other U.S. territories, a shipping broker is required to complete delivery. For orders shipping to Canada, please contact our customer service team for a shipping rate quote and assistance with your order.

How does freight delivery work?

Your hood will arrive securely packaged on a pallet. The carrier will contact you before delivery to provide a delivery window, and someone must be present to receive and inspect the order and sign the Bill of Lading (BOL).
Unless you’ve selected an upgraded shipping service, your order will be delivered curbside. Please make sure someone is available at the scheduled delivery time, as the carrier cannot leave the shipment without a signature. Additional shipping fees may apply if the order must be returned or rerouted due to an unsuccessful delivery.

What if my hood arrives damaged?

When you receive your range hood, please thoroughly inspect it before signing the BOL. Remove the top cover and check the hood itself for any damage.
If your hood is severely damaged beyond repair, please refuse the shipment and contact Hoodsly Customer Service. If you accept the delivery with visible damage, be sure to note the damage on the BOL and take photos before the carrier leaves.
Then, file a damage claim with our team as soon as possible. We’ll review the damage and work with you to determine the best resolution.

Can I delay delivery until my kitchen is ready?

If you know at the time of purchase that you won’t need your hood for an extended period, please include your preferred ship date in your order notes so our team can plan accordingly.
Once your hood is ready to ship, we can hold it in our warehouse for up to one week at no additional charge. If storage is needed beyond one week, a $100 weekly storage fee will apply.

How do I track my order?

Use our Track My Order feature to see where your range hood is in the production process. Simply enter your order number and email address to view its current status.
Once your range hood ships from our facility, you’ll receive an email with tracking details. From there, you can use the freight carrier’s tracking information to follow your shipment through delivery.

Do you have installers in my area?

Warranty & Returns

3 questions
What does the warranty cover?

Our 3-year craftsmanship warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship on the hood itself. It doesn't cover normal wear, damage from improper installation, or the ventilation insert, which carries its own manufacturer warranty.

Read the full warranty →
Can I return a custom hood?

Because custom hoods are made specifically for your kitchen, we’re unable to accept returns on custom sized or custom styled hoods.
This does not apply to hoods damaged during shipping. If your custom hood arrives damaged, please contact Hoodsly Customer Service immediately before modifying or installing the hood. Our team will work with you to determine the best resolution.
